So you wanna be a marine? This game is way cool. A bit slow but none the less a cool game. You get assigned missions, alot like in goldeneye for the n64, you get briefed on what to do get to choose youre team of trianed and heavily armed males and females ready to kick some ass. Then you play dress-up and give them light to heavy body armour in a variety of flavours from nightcover, to riot gear, to camo. Give them some high powerd automatic submachinegun toys, grenades and bomb difussers too, and off to the dot line chart to plan out who is to do what, where and when. Or load a default battle plan. Once youre done that, its off to kill some badguys.
The graphics are ok, Id reccomend you have a pretty powerful 3d card or its going to be real slow and not too pretty. The controlls are a bit confusing and hard to get used to, the mouse was real sensitive which was hard to get used to from plying unreal and q2 all my life. Once you get going its real cool. The terrorists are walking around and are packing some serious heat. Usually its one shot kills either way, but dont worry.. yet anyway, because if you take one and hit the floor you can become one of the other team members and take that bad boy out.
Once you get to fire those wicked
machines at some idiot with a gun.. its a good feeling. :) Some
of the more impressive things about this game besides the amount
of cool weapons, are night vision goggles, an optional silencer
for the 9mm if you want to be a bit sneaky, the communication you
have with the other teams. You can give them commands to advance
with guns blazing and hear them take out some evils.
They are no
idiots either, they can actually compete the mission if your to
busy to or you give the order. However they do get shot, and you
can keep track of who is going down by the cool taskbar you can
have up at all times on the lower screen.
It even has training for you if youre not so
hot in action, you can practice realistic situations like
clearing a room, opening doors, shoot and move, using the various
weapons lik grenade throwing, accuracy targets, and hostage
rescuing. (or hostage-not-shooting if your like me)
Rainbow Six is a game worth buying.
