Midtown Madness

Wow, i was impressed with this game. Not only with the graphics, and gameplay but with the harware support. It even detected my S3 Virge as a primary 3d display driver! This is like the second game ive seen that has done so. To be brief this game reminded me of a toned down Carmageddon, mixed with Need for Speed. It has real cars like, a Caddilac, ford mustang 1999 and fastback, an f150 1ton pickup, and (ugh) the new VW Beetle. You can even get an 18 wheeler and a city bus. The car damage is awsome, and the street driving is cool with pedestrian that leap out of your way, windows you can smash through, objects you can destroy, and working traffic lights. I just wish the traffic wouldt wait so long to go at a green. And sometimes they dont did i do that?notice you in line and ram into your ass end. The racing aspect of this game isnt as fun as choosing the 'cruise' setting and hitting the town to just drive around. Althought you can race checkpoints, blocked streets to form tracks, or freely drive to get to the finishline through traffic and all. The cops only get you when your car breaks down, unlike the 'tag you're it' weve seen before in racing games. The roads are really cool, actual streets in Chicago. The traffic cars use signal lights and your reverse lights come on when you backup, a feature now becoming popular in racing games. If the traffic were smarter, there were more cars, this would be a wicked game. Microsoft is on to somthing here. Look into this game.
